The 23-time Grand Slam champion posted a clip on social media of herself and Venus working out in their gym and jokingly accused her older sibling of stealing her belongings including a towel and her dog in a humorous exchange. Tennis fans were treated to a hilarious double act from the Williams sisters as Serena joked that she had been ‘disinvited’ from Venus’ house.
Serena announced her retirement from tennis in September 2022 after the American, widely recognised as one of the greatest players to grace the game, pledged to spend more time with her family.
In the meantime, it appears she has been busy playing detective after spotting some of her items in Venus’ home. In a clip uploaded to her official TikTok account, Serena can be seen harassing her sister after jokingly claiming Venus had stolen her gym equipment, pointing to some balls on the shelf. Venus is seen in the background performing yoga with a trainer and it is at that moment when the 41-year-old spots her towel hanging up on the rack in the gym.
After proving her claim by pointing out a towel had an ‘S’ imprinted on it, she joked that her ‘thief’ sister Venus needed to be brought to justice. “I’m here to confess that my sister is a thief. Here’s evidence,” she began. “So I’m at Venus’ house and clearly this is where all my workout balls went but I’m trying not to complain, I’m trying to just be positive here.
This amazing reformer was mine so. I keep asking her for some money but she’s outright refused. “She needs to be brought to justice,” Serena added. “That’s an ‘S’ on that towel. These things are mine. What else in here is mine? Is that in fact my dog. That is my dog.”
The Williams sisters have enjoyed a close relationship on and off the court during their professional careers and experienced huge success as a doubles pairing, collecting a remarkable haul of 14 Majors in their illustrious careers. And it seems their sisterly love has not wavered as they engaged in an uplifting exchange of banter.
Venus, 42, later posted on her Instagram story with the caption: “Permanently disinvited from my home @serenawilliams”, after having her behaviour called out by her younger sister. And that ‘threat’ appeared to be enough to convince Serena to back down, as she responded on Instagram: “My mistake my bad sorrry”.
